JOB DESCRIPTION
The UNDP Crisis Bureau’s Research, Analysis, Learning, and Innovation (RALI) Team is at the forefront of positioning UNDP as an agile, future-focused leader in risk management across the Humanitarian-Development-Peace (HDP) nexus. The RALI Team harnesses the combined strengths of thought leadership, policy research, decision intelligence, learning, and innovation to support resilient, responsive approaches to crisis and risk. Its primary objectives include:
- Thought Leadership and Policy Research: Producing world-class research and insights in the crisis and fragility space
- Development Risk Practice: Develop analytics to understand and address multidimensional risks to development.
- Crisis Financing: Unlocking resources for fragile and crisis-prone contexts through financial innovation and enhanced access to capital markets.
- Learning and Innovation: Delivering training and networking opportunities to humanitarian and development communities globally and fostering innovation for the next generation of crisis prevention, response, and recovery strategies.
A core learning initiative within the RALI Team, the UNDP Crisis Academy is dedicated to building a comprehensive, people-centered knowledge and learning ecosystem that enhances the preparedness and capacity of UNDP personnel and partners at the country, regional, and global levels. Aligned with UNDP’s Crisis Offer, the Crisis Academy focuses on equipping stakeholders with the skills and tools necessary to respond effectively to complex, high-risk crisis environments. The Academy is organized around three thematic campuses: 1) HDP Nexus Campus; 2) Prevention Campus; and 3) Recovery Campus.
Through its activities, the Crisis Academy cultivates essential competencies—including knowledge, skills, and a collective culture that embraces the complexities of crises, actively manages risks, and adapts continuously, particularly in politically challenging contexts. Central to the Academy’s mission is a commitment to inclusivity, fostering a learning environment that values and integrates diverse identities, perspectives, and experiences. The Crisis Academy ensures that each participant’s unique background is acknowledged and respected, creating a collaborative and supportive atmosphere that enhances learning outcomes.
- Provide technical advice, update and coordinate the implementation of communications activities;
- Collaborate with CB communications colleagues in the Strategic Partnerships and Communications team to align CA with CB objectives.
b. Guide branding design, and graphic content development for the CA
- Curate and ensure alignment with corporate visual identity across the CA campuses;
- Coordinate and support implementation of the CA Communications Toolkit consisting of standard, branded templates targeting different audiences, in close coordination with the CA team;
- Provide graphic design support and lead the development of infographics, banners, posters and other relevant communication material for CA internal and external dissemination;
- Based on inputs from the team, create relevant content including ad-hoc mailings, releases/other products in COPs to support CA announcements;
- Identify and support opportunities to create visibility for CA.
c. Website content management and social media engagement:
- Curate the website and SharePoint of the CA and ensure platforms are regularly updated with quality, creative multimedia content including new videos, reports, briefs;
- Support design and implementation of social media activities with quality content showcasing CA achievements, curating communications calendar, and outreach agreed with the CA manager;
- Prepare visually appealing and effective presentation material (e.g. power point, etc.).
d. Support CA events:
- Provide communications advice and support to CA events, including open house and other knowledge events.
The incumbent performs other duties within their functional profile as deemed necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization.
Institutional Arrangements
The Communication and Design Analyst will work closely with the Outreach Specialist and report to the Crisis Academy Manager, ensuring that communication efforts align with the Academy’s strategic goals. The role is embedded within the RALI team of UNDP Crisis Bureau.
