This internship is for a minimum 4 and maximum of 6 months. 1 April 2025 is the desired start date.
Duties and Responsibilities
The intern will work regularly with the supervisor in the conduct of research with strong emphasis on the 2030 Agenda. Tasks include: • Conducting research on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and issues associated with countries in special situations and middle-income countries. • Preparing background research, literature reviews and drafting inputs to prepare for several outputs of the Branch on issues related to sustainable development, including sustained, inclusive and sustainable growth. • Substantive and logistical support to meetings, workshops and seminars.
Qualifications/special skills
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). c) Applicants must have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Teams. d) Experience in the use of large databases and descriptive statistics is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
