Background:

The purpose of this consultancy is to support the implementation of the Making Every Woman and Girl Count programme in Asia and the Pacific, specifically by strengthening the implementation of Gender and Environment Surveys. The consultant will be responsible for updating the CSPro questionnaire script, developing protocols and tools to support quality control during data collection, and building the capacity of the gender statistics team in administering and managing the survey using CSPro.
The consultant will report to the Regional Gender Statistics Specialist.

To support member states in implementing the 2030 Agenda, UN Women’s Flagship Programme Initiative, “Making Every Woman and Girl Count (Women Count)” aims to affect a radical shift in the availability, accessibility and use of data and statistics on key aspects of gender equality and women’s empowerment. The Asia-Pacific regional component of the Women Count Programme encompasses a multi-year and multi-country programme of work with particular focus on implementing and supporting regional and country-specific activities in Asia and the Pacific. This includes work in the three inter-related key areas: (1)Building a supportive policy and institutional environment for the localization and effective monitoring of the SDGs; (2)Increasing the quality, comparability and regularity of gender statistics to address national data gaps and meet reporting commitments under the SDGs; and (3)Ensuring that gender statistics are accessible to users in governments, civil society, academia and the private sector, to strengthen adequate demand for their production.
Within the context of implementing the programme in Asia and the Pacific, and with the ultimate goal of enhancing the suite of tools available to countries to implement Gender-Environment Surveys (GES), UN Women is seeking the services of a consultant. The consultant will be responsible for adjusting the CSPro syntax to align with the updated model questionnaire for GES surveys, developing protocols and tools to support robust quality control during data collection, and building the capacity of the gender statistics team in deploying CSPro for GES data collection and implementing quality control procedures during fieldwork.

Consultant’s Workplace and Official Travel:
This is a home-based international consultancy with travel to Bangkok for at least one week required; and availability for coaching during Bangkok working hours. The consultant will work off-site (work from home) and come to UN Women office for the training sessions during the dates agreed with UN Women. The consultant is expected to make himself/herself available to resolve questions or queries during Bangkok’s working hours. As part of the official duty of this consultancy, the consultant may be expected to travel, which will be processed by UN Women, following UN women Duty Travel policy.
The contract period will be 2 months.
