JOB DESCRIPTION

Task description

We are looking for 6 Online Volunteers with expertise in data analysis, research, and technical writing to support the Sustainable Energy Academy in updating and refining statistical content, infographics, and datasets for its e-learning modules. Volunteers will ensure data accuracy, enhance contextual clarity, and prepare visualization-ready datasets, aligning all materials with the Sustainable Energy Hub’s (SEH) integrated Energy for Development approach. Responsibilities: Each volunteer will be responsible for the following during the 10-week assignment. – Update and validate statistical data across 3-learning modules to reflect the latest sustainable energy trends and SDG 7 targets. – Revise 5+ static infographics, adding explanatory footnotes and contextual insights to improve accessibility for policymakers and practitioners. – Prepare structured datasets (20-26 datasets) compatible with UNDP Data Viz Library’s requirements (e.g., formatting, metadata standards), ensuring seamless integration into interactive charts. – Collaborate with the SEH team to design data narratives that highlight energy’s intersection with water, finance, gender equality, and climate resilience, using the UNDP library’s visualization templates. – Conduct quality checks to ensure datasets and visuals adhere to UNDP’s accessibility and open-data principles. Assignment requirements

Required experience

– Strong research and analytical skills. – Proficiency in data cleaning/analysis tools (Excel, Python, R) and structuring datasets for visualization (CSV/JSON formats). – Familiarity with sustainable energy concepts and SDG 7 (affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all). – Attention to detail for data validation and formatting. – Basic understanding of JavaScript/data visualization libraries is an asset. – A degree in a related field is considered an asset.
