This consultancy is based in Mexico (remote) and supports UNICEF Mexico’s Communication section. The consultant will lead the improvement and update of the institutional website, a key platform for communicating UNICEF’s impact, supporting advocacy, and engaging the public and donors.

How can you make a difference?

Support UNICEF Mexico in strengthening its digital presence by updating and improving the institutional website.

Key Deliverables:

1. Timeline and structure for the development of the UNICEF Mexico 2024 Annual Report microsite – Based on materials provided by the Communications team and in coordination with the person responsible for layout and design. The microsite must include infographics, UNICEF-provided photos, and other visual resources, and adhere to UNICEF’s global digital governance guidelines.
2. Publication of the Mexico”s 2024 Annual Report microsite – Launch by the established date, with responsive and interactive design, clear navigation, and strong visual storytelling.
3. Diagnostic report and improvement proposal for the institutional website – Technical and strategic evaluation of the current site (unicef.org/mexico), including recommendations for structure, content, user experience, digital visibility, navigation (UX), internal linking, CTAs, SEO, and visual enhancements.
4. Timeline for updating programmatic sections, restructuring, and improving content – Includes planning meetings (at least 2 per team) and coordination with Social Policy, Education, Child Protection, Health and Nutrition, Adolescent Development and Participation (ADAP), and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH).
5. Updated and improved programmatic sections implemented – Refers to Qué hacemos page and all relevant programmatic areas.
6. Update and improvement of the rest of the website implemented – Includes content restructuring, improved internal links, enhanced navigation, responsive design, improved visuals, technical error correction, improved CTAs, and SEO enhancements.
7. Development and publication of 5 new strategic web pieces – Includes advocacy content, institutional positioning, articles based on search trends, programmatic pieces aligned with campaigns/events, and a mini section for EdExplora (Innovation and Technology for Education).
8. Practical site maintenance guide – No longer than 6 pages, including an SEO checklist, link verification, content recommendations, and UX best practices (PDF format).

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Minimum requirements:

• Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Communication, Web Design, Multimedia, Digital Media, Graphic Design, Marketing, or another related field.

• Work Experience:
  • At least 5 years of experience in web content management, online writing, UX/UI design, web architecture, or digital communication, preferably in institutional, nonprofit, or international cooperation contexts.
  • Proven experience working with Drupal, WordPress, or similar CMS, including publishing workflows; experience with Drupal is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop microsites, apply SEO strategies, improve site architecture, and coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Strong knowledge of website management, information architecture, and web accessibility standards.
  • Solid understanding of SEO best practices, analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics, Search Console), and content optimization.
  • Capacity to produce digital content (infographics, basic visuals, storytelling) aligned with organizational branding.
  • Excellent organizational and coordination skills, including collaboration with stakeholders not familiar with web design and management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in Spanish.
• Language Requirements:
  • Fluency in Spanish (required)
  • English proficiency (desirable)

Desirables:

• Certifications in web development, web design, CMS management.
• Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary teams or technical areas for digital projects.
• Experience with UNICEF or other UN agencies is an asset.
• Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings, and humanitarian contexts.

• The intention is to have a cost breakdown as detailed as possible.

• The economic proposal must be presented by the consultant indicating the COST PER DELIVERABLE, as well as the breakdown and explanation of the proposal, signed and in a letterhead.

• Costs must be considered for all project expenses.

• The proposal should include VAT (IVA) costs as per the table below. ISR should not be included.

• Costs must be fixed for the entire project.

• Present your proposal in Mexican pesos; if you are a foreign provider, you must send your offer in US dollars
