Result of Service
Strengthen institutional capacity by providing technical, mental health and wellbeing guidance to develop a global campaign for youth mental health and wellbeing. Expected Outputs and Deliverables. 1. A comprehensive review on mental health initiatives at global, national and local levels. 2. A mapping of potential partners in different sectors including recommendations for collaboration. 3. A toolkit on mental health and wellbeing for young people targeting the UN and partners organizations. 4. A global campaign strategy on mental health and wellbeing. 5. A policy brief with a list of recommendations on mental health and wellbeing. 6. A final report on mental health and wellbeing for the UN Youth Office.

Duties and Responsibilities
Background: In September 2022, the UN General Assembly, in its resolution 76/306, established the UN Youth Office (UNYO) as a dedicated office for youth affairs in the UN Secretariat, incorporating the Office of the Envoy of the Secretary-General on Youth (OSGEY). Under the leadership of the first Assistant Secretary-General for Youth Affairs, this new office provides solid foundations to boost the United Nations’ engagement with and for youth. With a robust mandate and dedicated resources from the United Nations Regular Budget for the first time, UNYO benefits from solid political support from Member States and a stable financial footing. The mandate of UNYO is to 1) Lead engagement and advocacy on youth issues across the pillars of United Nations’ work- peace and security, sustainable development, and human rights; 2) Promote meaningful, inclusive, and effective engagement of youth and youth-led and youth focused organizations in the work of the United Nations; 3) Encourage greater UN coordination and accountability on the advancement of youth issues, including United Nations support to Member States; 4) Improve the conditions of internships and employment opportunities for youth in the UN with due regard to gender and geographical balance and 5) Outreach to youth through innovative means, including the use of social media, narrative storytelling, etc. Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Conduct a comprehensive review of existing global frameworks and data on mental health and wellbeing, especially among young people. 2. Conduct a stakeholder mapping of a wide range of possible partners including UN entities, member states, youth constituencies, civil society organizations, foundations and the private sector, among others on their work related to mental health with a special focus on gaps. 3. Contribute to the design of a Global Campaign and call to action on Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing. 4. Establish dedicated media partnerships for dissemination on Mental Health and Wellbeing information. 5. Contribute to the development of a process to highlight and foster cross-collaboration among successful youth mental health interventions, especially at the national level, including those already being implemented with UN support. 6. Produce a policy brief with concrete recommendations on mental health and wellbeing.
Qualifications/special skills
Advanced degree in a relevant field such as social sciences, public health, mental health and wellbeing, education, youth development, psychology, or other related disciplines is required. A first-level university degree with a combination of two years professional experience and academic qualifications may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. A minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience, including work on mental health, youth development, policy research, or advocacy is required. Experience in stakeholder mapping, policy analysis, and campaign development is desirable.
Languages
Fluency in written and spoken English is required; proficiency of other UN Languages is desirable.
