VAC-13607 Nutrition Consultant – Alkufrah Libya

Under the overall guidance of the Chief of Health and Nutrition in Libya Country Office, with direct supervision from UNICEF Health and Nutrition officer , and in close collaboration with the health authorities and stakeholders, and Response, the field based Nutrition consultant will be responsible to implement the emergency Nutrition response activities in Alkufra and other municipalities hosting Sudanese refugees, and to assess the needs, coordinate, monitor and report on nutrition supported services to under 5 children and Child bearing age women.

Since the start of the Sudanese crisis in April 2023, the critical nutritional situation in Sudan has further deteriorated, due to population displacement, restricted access to basic services, disease outbreaks, and worsening food and water security, posing a significant threat to people’s livelihood, especially most vulnerable groups such as children under 5 years old, pregnant women, and breastfeeding women and girls, Sudanese refugees and asylum seekers are dispersed across different locations in AlKufra and its surroundings, including government buildings, farms, and detention center. The incumbent will play a critical role to ensure quality nutrition program.

implementation and maintain proper unicef response to the growing number of needs in Alkufra and surrounding areas

he Nutrition consultant will be in the field (mainly Alkufra with mobility to relevant intervention areas, ) five days per week in close coordination with UNICEF Libya country office Health and Nutrition officer and chief of field office Benghazi. To cover the below main objectives: 

1. Capacity Strengthening for MoH staff and partners such as LRC based on request from supervisor to facilitate project implementation at different geographical locations ( Monthly workshops to be organized)
2. Monitoring and supportive supervision of ongoing unicef Nutrition program through mobile teams at
   different locations (Daily visits to be conducted to supervise mobile team activities)
3. Regular field data review, analysis to generate trends based on nutrition reports to guide program
   implementation. (weekly reports to be generated and shared with UNICEF)
4. Nutrition supply management and review of supply disbursement across different locations to facilitate
   the response (To be review monthly and reports to be shared)

Weekly summary reports covering key interventions, nutrition indicators extracted from KOBO tool is shared timely with unicef and relevant stakeholders, to assess progress, fill in gaps and provide technical support.

• Monthly analytical report on the evolution of service coverage, challenges, and proposed solutions.
• Timely reports are share for training, and day to day interventions.
• Field monitoring reports documenting success and human-interest stories.
