Overview of position

Established in 1951,
IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration
and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental, and non- governmental
partners.  IOM is dedicated to promoting
human and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing
services and advice to governments and migrants.

Under the overall supervision of the Senior Protection
Associate, the direct supervision of the Senior Child Protection Assistant, and
in close coordination with other colleagues, the successful candidate will conduct
all steps of the case management process for the assigned cases. 

Role objectives

  • Undertake regular visits to assigned locations, or at the IOM office, to identify and follow up with protection cases.

  • Conduct vulnerability screenings and in-depth assessments in assigned locations to help identify the urgent needs and possible solutions.

  • Prepare assistance plans and provide regular, timely and comprehensive follow-up in coordination with specialized protection colleagues and under the supervision of the Senior Protection Assistant (Case management).

  • Inform beneficiaries of all relevant services available. Refer cases to relevant partner organizations and international organizations for appropriate follow-up and/or to other units within IOM for their respective follow-up.

  • Maintain up-to-date case records of all assigned cases and promptly complete all data entry and reporting requirements.

  • Conduct weekly follow-up visits in Host-families and prepare a weekly report that includes all updates on assigned cases in HFs. 

  • Carry out administrative duties as requested.

  • Participate in case-management meetings and other protection meetings.

  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.

  • Minimum of two years’ professional experience in the field of Protection and assistance to vulnerable populations. 

  • Effective organizational skills and ability to establish priorities and plans, ability to work under pressure and cope with deadlines.

  • Demonstrated problem solving attitude and skills.

  • Good written and spoken communications skills, good interpersonal skills, ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.

  • Fluent in English and Arabic, both written and spoken, knowledge of French is considered an advantage.

  • Good knowledge of MS Office applications.e.g. Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
