Veterinarians throughout the Midwest refer animal clients to the Veterinary Health Center for specialized diagnoses and treatment. With sophisticated therapeutic equipment that includes an underwater treadmill, advanced imaging techniques, and groundbreaking equine lameness diagnostic equipment, we are a center for animal healthcare.

We are seeking a Veterinary Technician to join our Equine service. Our facility, located at Clydesdale Hall, provides state-of-the-art teaching and medical services, including ambulatory services. In addition to regular check-ups and preventive health care, we feature cutting edge surgical and intensive lifesaving medical care.

Job responsibilities will vary depending on daily clinic needs, and could include:

• Assist with medication administration, lameness exams, foal care, endoscopic procedures, neurologic examinations, emergency care, dentals, and ophthalmologic exams and treatments.
• Assist with inpatient and outpatient examinations including both medicine and surgery cases depending on the case load and need
• Provide support during procedures including serving as a surgical technician, administering sedation, performing venipuncture, and assisting with radiology needs.
• Accompany faculty, house officers, and students on ambulatory and field calls as needed.
• Assist with biosecurity protocols.
• Other duties and assigned tasks as needed based on caseload and the service

This position requires on-call emergency duty and includes heavy lifting and physical work.

This position is a full-time, 40 hour a week position. Primary hours are Monday through Friday, 8a to 5p with on-call emergency rotations that would include evenings and weekends (rotated amongst the staff).

• Graduation from an AVMA accredited Veterinary Technology Program.
• Licensure as a Registered Veterinary Technician in the State of Missouri, or eligibility to obtain Missouri Licensure within 6 months after start date.

Previous experience with equine or large animals is preferred.

• Enjoy working with animals and have the ability to comfort, handle and restrain large animals.

Hiring range begins at $19.00 per hour for new graduates without a license and $20.00 per hour for those with a license.
