As a Water Program Specialist, you will be responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of the surveillance, compliance, enforcement, data management, and operational evaluation elements of the Commonwealth’s statewide SDW Program to ensure uniform program compliance. Work will involve interpreting assignments, rules, regulations, and procedures, and providing technical assistance to employees, federal and state agencies, professional organizations, and the public relating to the SDW Program.
In addition, you will serve as the liaison with the Department of Health’s toxicologists to identify and evaluate available risk assessment and health advisory information for regulated and unregulated contaminants in drinking water. You will also provide comprehensive training to field staff and the regulated community regarding new regulations and other technical topics to improve implementation of, and compliance with, the drinking water program. Effective communication is key, as you will be participating in a wide-range of meetings, conferences, hearings, and other public forums to explain a variety of existing and new state or federal regulations.
