The Welders at Campbell Transportation Company are critical to our operations, ensuring the integrity and safety of our barges and vessels. This role requires a high level of technical skill, adherence to strict safety standards, and a commitment to environmental responsibility.
Essential Welder Responsibilities:
- Adhere to all company safety procedures, protocols and regulations to ensure the safety of personnel and equipment.
- Inspect and correct or report any conditions that may affect the safety of personnel or equipment.
- Effectively use all required safety equipment effectively as mandated by company policies.
- Perform welding in flat, vertical, or overhead positions using stick welding and flux core techniques.
- Conduct inspections of workpieces for defects and ensure conformity to templates and specifications.
- Manage rigging operations during crane activities and signal/communicate effectively with crane operators.
- Assess the condition of cables, wires, and lines to ensure their suitability for use.
- Operate power tools for repairs as necessary.
- Paint and apply protective coatings as required.
- Enter confined spaces in compliance with company policies.
- Perform work that may require Hot Work Permits.
- Continuously learn and comply with all CTC policies, alongside USCG and federal regulations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Educational and Job Qualifications:
- Must possess or be able to obtain a Transportation Worker’s Identification Card (TWIC).
Preferred Educational and Job Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Trade school or equivalent experience in welding.
- Prior experience in a similar role within the marine industry.
- Prior experience in positions requiring a high level of safety awareness.
Physical Capabilities:
Must be able to perform the following:
- Traverse barges.
- Transport equipment of 60 to 100 pounds up to 1000 feet.
- Ascend/Descend a 90 degree ladder up to 40 feet.
- Move, transport and position equipment up to 100 pounds.
- Position self to move through 18-inch diameter hatch.
- Move two (2) feet horizontally and vertically.
- Maintain constant communication with team members.
- Ability to recognize, identify and recognize distances between objects.
- Will constantly work in outdoor weather conditions.
- Constantly standing, sitting or kneeling.
- Moving and working in confined spaces.
- Work shift is a minimum of 8 hrs. (overtime could be required).
- Pass respirator fit testing.
