ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT:

This job is based in Port Sudan Fleet Workshop and reports to Fuel Operations Associate or designate. Job holder will be working under the supervision of a more experienced staff member, receiving guidance and regular feedback on work performed.

THE ROLE:

The Fuel Storekeeper/Attendant is responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant management of fuel storage facilities and fuel distribution operations. The incumbent ensures accurate documentation, proper control of fuel stocks, adherence to safety rules, and effective support to staff involved in fuel management.

• Supervise fuel storage capacity and fuel distribution points, ensuring compliance with all safety and security requirements related to fuel storage and handling.
• Oversee and guide fuel distribution staff if required, ensuring that all operational procedures are followed.
• Ensure adequate equipment (pumps, fire extinguishers, safety/security devices) is in place, functioning properly, and used in line with safety and security regulations.
• Participate in the monthly physical inventory count of fuel stocks.
• Receive fuel procured from suppliers or transferred from other WFP locations, ensuring all receipts are properly documented and any shortages are justified and recorded.
• Organize the dispense of the fuel to vehicles, generators, and other authorized equipment based on valid, fully completed, signed, and approved fuel issue vouchers or coupons.
• Conduct dipstick measurements twice daily—once in the morning before any fuel movement and once in the evening after all operations. Record each reading immediately in the WFP fuel logbook.
• Manage daily fuel stock levels and maintain accurate, up-to-date records in FMS, logbooks, spreadsheets, and other official documentation. Request stocks punishment when fuel is below an established level.
• Perform periodic random checks during fueling or delivery operations if required, to verify that quantities issued per vehicle/agency correspond to the figures recorded in the documentation.
• Immediately report any variances or discrepancies between actual fuel balances and recorded balances to the supervisor.
• Register all fuel vouchers used during the day in the FMS and ensure all fuel records are available for review by authorized personnel.
• Prepare and submit the daily/monthly fuel report (fuel received, issued, and remaining balance).
• Provide technical support and guidance to staff involved in fuel management operations if required.
• Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE :

Education: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in Fleet or Fuel management, Trade or Mathematics, or any other related functional area will constitute an advantage.

DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE:

• Has some experience in Fleet or Fuel management, Trade or Mathematics.
• Has experience in providing customer support services, preferably linked to fuel.
• Has accountability and/or some FMS/Excell spreadsheet skills.

Experiences: At least four years of experience in relevant functional areas

Language: Fluency in English and Arabic language
