JOB DESCRIPTION
About the Program:
WRI is at the forefront of a global transformation in how people generate and consume energy. Working with influential stakeholders in government, the private sector, and major NGOs around the world, the WRI Energy Program is making the vision of clean, reliable and affordable energy a reality. The Energy Program builds on more than 40 years as a recognized leader in research that promotes sustainable development and leverages a global network across 50 countries to accelerate the pace at which the world moves away from fossil fuels and embraces low-carbon energy sources and ensures that no one gets left behind in this new economy.
As a WRI intern, you will also have access to the following opportunities:
Intern-a-Palooza: An annual event hosted every August since 2009 to celebrate WRI’s incredible interns. During the event, interns showcase their work completed during their time with WRI. Intern-a-Palooza is a wonderful opportunity for interns to strengthen their presentation skills and build relationships across WRI.
Around WRI in 80 Days: Throughout the summer, teams across WRI host information sessions for interns to learn about the teams’ projects and scope of work. These sessions are great opportunities for interns to learn about the great work happening all over the Institute.
Career Panels: A panel of WRI experts across different programs, teams, and grade levels will speak about their experiences in their careers. Interns will have the opportunity to ask questions and engage with staff at various levels and across the entire institute.
This is a hybrid position which requires 8 days per month in the office. You can be based in our office in Washington DC Office. Existing work authorization is required at the time of application submission as WRI is unable to sponsor any visa work sponsorship for this position. To be eligible for this position, you must be a resident of DC, Maryland or Virginia at the start of employment.
What you will do:
You will be responsible for integrating equity into your work. In this role, you will support the Energy Program as it builds out its systems and processes in Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (PMEL), including knowledge management (KM). As the Energy Program expands in terms of both scope and geographic reach, we are seeking to build flexible, user-friendly, and durable mechanisms that will enable the team to more easily access information across WRI, connect with colleagues, and share data and reflections from their projects and experiences. You will have the opportunity to work with Energy colleagues in all of WRI’s country offices and global team, as well as staff across the larger institute. This is an exciting opportunity to support a team that is working to integrate systems thinking and impacts for people, nature, and climate into technological and policy solutions to orchestrate a larger transition towards clean energy across the world.
