Job Description:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Serves as role model for clients by sharingownrecovery process and teaching effective coping techniques and self-help strategies.

  • Assistsclients in development of recoveryplan, including psychiatric advance directives and crisisplan.

  • Provides education withfocuson illness management and peer support.

  • Provides advocacy services on behalf of clients.

  • Implements and coordinates recovery plans for individual clients in assigned populationgroup, including evaluation, consultation, and education, and follow-up services.

  • Provides case management, resourcing, servicecollaboration for individual clients as extension of case management services.

  • Serves as an active member of the client’s treatment team, including participation in team meetings and treatment planning meetings

  • Informs supervisor, and other members oftreatmentteam asindicated, of issues/concerns related to individual clients.

  • Maintainsaccurate, thorough records on all assigned cases and uses documentation toassistclients in evaluating progress.

  • Participates in requiredtrainingstomaintaincertification.

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or General Equivalent Diploma (GED) certificate

  • Have current or past diagnosis of a mental health disorder

REQUIREMENTS

  • Eighteen (18) years of age or older

  • Attest to one year recovery as defined by Alcohol and Drug Treatment entity (AODE) regulations

  • Completion of Kentucky’s Department for Behavioral Health, Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities (DBHDID) approved Adult Peer Support Specialist training

  • Completes,maintains, andsubmitsto DBHDID, documentation of a minimum of six (6) hours of related training or education eachsubsequentyear

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • position requires lifting of 20 pounds maximum, with frequent lifting and/or carrying of items weighing up to ten pounds.

  • Normal work tasks may involve exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissue.

  • May involve 24-hour on-call responsibilities.
