The Deputy Safety manager is a key member of the 2Excel Group Ltd Safety team. The Manager shall coordinate the day to day running of the Safety Management System (SMS) in relation to Part 145 operations at Lasham Airfield.Internal work includes the coordination of and in some cases the investigation of Safety Reports, coordination of safety issues with other internal departments, performing auditing activities, supporting the SAGs and SRBs, coordination with the UK CAA and other regulatory bodies on operational safety issues and the initial/recurrent training of 2 Excel Group Part 145 staff on the effective application of the SMS (philosophy, policy, procedures and tools).Responsibilities:

• Deputise as required for the Group Safety Manager in their absence.
• Conduct investigations of Safety Incidents in a thorough and timely manner.
• Establish and manage the elements of the embedded SMS programme e.g. training, regular meeting schedules, one-to-ones, safety promotion, staff development etc.
• Work closely with company Health and Safety Manager to maintain a comprehensive hazard and risk register for the site.
• Ensure standardisation of Group Safety processes across the site.
• Facilitate risk assessment of processes that could pose a significant potential risk to Safety.
• The DSM shall interact with operational personnel, senior managers and departmental heads throughout the organisation.
• Developing appropriate networks and opportunities for the exchange of safety information with Industry forums and associations.
• Assists in the continuous improvement of the hazard identification and safety risk assessment, and management of change within the organisation’s SMS.
• Analyses data for trends related to hazards, and occurrences.
• Conduct safety surveys and cultural assessments to ensure the workforce’s understanding of SMS continually matures and remedial actions are taken to ensure the existence of a positive safety culture.
• Produce articles for publication for Group Safety and company publications.

Requirements:

• Extensive leadership experience required.
• Aviation experience required.
• Sound knowledge of safety management principles and practices;
• Sound knowledge of UK and European Regulation with regard to Part 145.
• Good working knowledge of Centrik is an advantage.
• Excellent inter-personal skills
• Sound knowledge of IT and Microsoft software, (Word/Excel, PowerPoint etc)
• Be willing to travel to other part 145 locations as the role evolves.
