Job Title: Forklift Truck Operator – $21.70/HR + OT

Job Description

The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for transporting salt and other materials within the mine. This role involves loading, hauling, and unloading materials efficiently while strictly adhering to safety regulations and operational procedures.

Responsibilities

• Move materials using heavy equipment underground.
• Transport salt throughout the mine using heavy equipment.
• Inspect finished products to ensure they meet required specifications.
• Assist the maintenance department with preventive maintenance on equipment as needed.
• Operate a forklift and other heavy equipment to move salt within the mine.
• Complete assigned paperwork accurately for specific customers/orders.
• Perform daily housekeeping tasks.
• 1st Shift from 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM,
• 2nd Shift from 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM
• 3rd Shift from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM
• Minimum 50 hours per week, with occasional Saturday work required

Essential Skills

• experience operating a forklift in an outdoor or rough environment.
• Minimum of 1 year of recent forklift experience.
• Safety-conscious mindset with a ‘see something, say something’ attitude.
• Ability to work underground comfortably for the majority, if not all, of the shift.
• Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs repetitively during a 10-hour shift.
• Steel-toed boots/shoes.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Preferred: Heavy equipment operating experience.

Work Environment

The role is located in a salt mine, 1100 feet below ground, resembling a large warehouse with ample open space. It is not cramped or cave-like. Candidates must be able to work in varying temperatures, both hot and cold, depending on the day. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, with shifts available as follows: .

The pay range for this position is $21.70 – $21.70/hr.
