Variable hour Juvenile Counselor I’s work a variety of shifts dependent on programming needs. They are an essential part of the team and cover vacation, callouts, scheduled leaves and time-off requests for full-time employees. The hours for this position are variable and include mornings, swings, overnights, holidays and weekend shifts up to 20-hours per week.
CUSTODY SERVICES
The Custody Services unit is available 24 hours a day to respond to law enforcement. Staff assigned to this unit are responsible for receiving calls from police agencies that have juveniles in custody, gather information and make decisions about immediate custody of youth. They are responsible for crisis intervention, safety and security within the Custody Services holding area, and court rooms. Staff conduct secure transports to various appointments within the community, the state, and out of state when required.

Selection Process
1. An evaluation of training and experience of submitted application packets will be performed by Human Resources at the close of the job posting.
2. Our goal is to schedule oral panel interviews with candidates that successfully passed the HR Evaluation step as soon as positions are needed to be filled. Candidates will be contacted based on their selected schedule availability as it relates to the needs of the hiring department at that time.
3. Conditional Offer: Human Resources will conduct a salary analysis for the successful candidate(s) and we will extend a conditional offer of employment.
4. Washington County will perform a reference check, a DMV check, and background check on the candidate(s) that successfully passes the oral panel interviews and is selected for the position(s).
5. Start Date: A start date will be determined after all conditions of employment have been met.
