Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £425- £500, based on experience
Start Date: APRIL 2025About the Role:
Are you passionate about supporting students to reach their potential? We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our team at a vibrant and forward-thinking secondary school in Middlesbrough. This is an exciting opportunity to help students with diverse learning needs, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN), and make a positive impact on their academic journey.Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide Individual & Group Support: Assist students with SEN on a one-to-one basis or in small groups to help them engage fully in lessons and activities.
  • Classroom Support: Work alongside teaching staff to support students during lessons, helping them access the curriculum and stay engaged.
  • Help with SEN Provision: Work with students with various learning needs, ensuring they receive the support they require to succeed, both academically and socially.
  • Promote Positive Behaviour: Assist in managing student behaviour in line with the school’s policies, encouraging a positive and productive learning environment.
  • Encourage Independent Learning: Foster students’ independence by helping them develop skills that will benefit them inside and outside the classroom.
  • Track Student Progress: Monitor the progress of students and share feedback with teaching staff to inform teaching strategies and provide tailored support.
  • Collaborate with the Team: Work closely with the SENCO and other colleagues to develop and implement personalized learning plans and strategies for students.

What We Are Looking For:

  • A genuine passion for working with young people, especially those with special educational needs.
  • Previous experience working with students (preferably in a school or educational setting) is beneficial but not essential.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Empathy, patience, and resilience, particularly when working with students who may face challenges in their learning.
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to varying student needs and classroom environments.
  • A proactive, team-oriented approach to work.
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths are essential. A Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or 3) would be an advantage but not required.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
