Job Summary

The Program Development and Grants Officer plays a role in enabling the Country Office to grow through proactive positioning and mobilization of cross-functional technical specialist team to lead the development of project design and the drafting of high-quality proposals that are evidence-based and aligned with the country programmatic framework and donor requirements. The position is similarly responsible for the development and writing of new development and humanitarian action research projects, grants or project opportunities, pre-quality and successful concepts, program design, and proposals. The position reports to the Program Manager.

Responsibilities
1. Map and develops a donor landscape analysis to better equip the country office in fixing its problem areas in its operations and in expanding into opportune activities and community needs.
2. Facilitates networking, participates in relevant meetings at regional and national level and maintains strategic engagement and communication with the Country Office in achieving improved grants acquisition.
3. Assists in the development of grant acquisition management plans and project or program concepts and proposals to potential donors and reviews proposals for accuracy, data integrity and their alignment within the country programmatic framework.
4. Develops and maintains grants tracker to ensure all grant files are organized and well managed for planning and preparation of donor reports and project monitoring.
5. Monitor grants for legal, financial and program compliance including but not limited to ensuring that grant requirements are correctly documented and maintains the grants and a report tracking system to ensure all grant files are organized and well managed for planning and preparation of donor reports and project monitoring.
6. Ensures that grantmaking operations are continually refined, bringing in learnings to socialize promising practices that streamline processes and ensure the equitable and transparent treatment of programmatic partners in the field.
7. Adheres to and upholds the standards and principles of child safeguarding policy and Code of Conduct to protect the reputation of the organization as a child-right organization and guarantee the fundamental right of all persons.
8. Performs other tasks, may necessary, that may be directed by the higher authorities to address the needs and demands of operations, and delegated, to address a specific matter or accomplish a specific goal.

Essential qualifications
1. A graduate of Community Development or Development Communications or another course may be considered if he/ she has the experience and competency requirements for the post.
2. With at least three (3) year experience in resource mobilization, grants acquisition and program development
3. Excellent in technical writing
4. It is preferred that the point of hire is within the area the position is located
