The Department of Computer Science is seeking to recruit a Research Fellows onto the SCHEME – Safety Critical Harsh Environment Microprocessing Evolution project, which is co-funded by InnovateUK and by partners from the UK civil avionics industry. The Department of Computer Science of the University of York leads two strands of work in SCHEME. This position is for the model-based software engineering strand.You will be classed as a full-time researcher, however, opportunities will be available to help grow your experience to help secure a future position, including in academia.RoleThe successful candidate will contribute to a subset of various activities depending on their skills, interests and experience, including, but not limited to:-Enable user-friendly web-based reviewing of domain-specific models (e.g. in the context of GitHub pull requests).Improve interoperability between software and electronics modelling tools.Facilitate semantic queries spanning different versions of a model (e.g. versioned in a Git repository).Skills, Experience & Qualification neededPhD in Computer Science (or nearing completion) or equivalent experienceFirst degree in Computer Science or related subjectKnowledge in Computer Science to engage in high quality researchKnowledge of model-based software engineering technologies (e.g. Eclipse Modeling Framework, Eclipse Sirius)Strong object-oriented software design and development (preferably Java) skillsHighly developed communication skills to engage effectively with a wide-ranging audience, both orally and in writing, using a range of mediaAbility to write up research work for publication and onward disseminationExperience of undertaking publicly evidenced high quality researchCollaborative ethosInterview date: To be confirmedFor informal enquiries: please contact Dimitirs Kolovos, dimitris.kolovos@york.ac.ukThe University strives to be diverse and inclusive – a place where we can ALL be ourselves.We particularly encourage applications from people who identify as Black, Asian or from a Minority Ethnic background, who are underrepresented at the University.We offer family friendly, flexible working arrangements, with forums and inclusive facilities to support our staff.
