Special Investigator 2

As a Special Investigator 2 with the Bureau of Enforcement and Investigation, you will play a key role in protecting the public by conducting detailed investigations. You will work on cases involving charitable groups and other regulated activities while helping uphold state laws. This position conducts confidential investigations to determine whether organizations and individuals are following state laws and regulations. The role requires strong attention to detail, communication skills, and the ability to manage complex investigative tasks. As a Special Investigator 2, you will perform the following duties:

• Conduct Investigations: Perform routine and complex investigations through interviews, observations, evidence review, and site visits
• Lead Cases: Serve as lead investigator on sensitive cases and help guide less experienced investigators
• Plan Work: Develop investigative plans, review complaints, and organize tasks to complete thorough case reviews
• Prepare Reports: Write clear and accurate reports that explain findings and support case decisions
• Maintain Confidentiality: Protect identities, evidence, and information collected during investigations
• Provide Testimony: Appear at hearings or legal proceedings to present investigative findings when required

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, upon successful completion of the probationary period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Four years of professional experience in criminal, civil, or administrative investigation work, and a bachelor’s degree; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:

• You must possess an active motor vehicle license
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.
