The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate’s educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

Supervises and directs daily department business and clinical operations of the department and provides therapeutic, supportive, and diagnostic respiratory services and care to all RWJBH patients.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • A.A.S. degree in Respiratory Care (or equivalent) BS/BA preferred.
  • Graduate of a National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) School for Respiratory care
  • Knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care as described in the scope of services for Respiratory Care Practitioner
  • Computer skill EPIC EMR

Preferred:

  • Minimum of two years supervisory experience required 5 years preferred.

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • Registered (RRT) as defined by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
  • Active New Jersey State License to practice Respiratory Therapy
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS certification required (American Heart Association)

Essential Functions:

  • Performs all duties and responsibilities of the CRT or RRT as appropriate.
  • Exercises supervisory authority and independent judgment in directing employee labor.
  • Makes recommendations regarding the ongoing performance evaluation of supervised staff and resulting actions (i.e. reward, discipline, discharge, etc)
  • Assists Director and/or Manager/ Co-ordinator with various PI projects
  • Oversees all aspects of Blood Gas Lab
  • Assists with creation and implementation of accurate department policies and procedures.
  • Oversees all aspects of the department and functions in the absence of the Director, Manager or Co Ordinator.
  • Provides on-call coverage for Respiratory.
  • Responds to Trauma, Medical Emergency, and RRT and performs CPR as required
  • Provides appropriate in-service to patients, family, physicians, nurses and clinical employee as required
  • Maintains the department in orderly and clean condition
  • Complete all mandatory Competencies within specified timeframe.
  • Complete all Net Learning online training within specified timeframe.
  • Attend external and internal educational programs as part of continuing education.
  • Assures appropriateness for continuation of discontinuation of therapy.
  • Supervise personnel in all aspects of daily patient care to ensure quality service.
  • Coordinate department staffing and daily patient assignments.
  • Provide consistent role-modeling and direction in the workplace.
  • Demonstrate cultural competency and the ability to maintain a diverse workforce.
  • Interacts tactfully, constructively and diplomatically with others and resolves conflicts effectively.
  • Identify areas for improvement. Assist the Director /Assistant Director in formulating plans and obtain results.
  • Perform performance improvement activities such as chart reviews and patient audits.
  • Assist with department assignments and/or projects to accomplish goals
  • Provides praise for performance and behaviors.
  • Provides in-servicing, policy & procedure guideline development, department PI activities and information as requested by the Director.
  • Maintain knowledge and consistency in interpretation and implementation of Department, Hospital, Administrative and Human Resource policies and procedures
  • Performs all other duties as assigned
