DESCRIPTION

Under supervision, performs and records all sonographic procedures and assists with some specialty procedures in accordance with established departmental guidelines and protocols. Operates various types of ultrasound equipment, transducers, and recording devices. Recognizes normal and pathological conditions and modifies the exam accordingly to ensure complete and accurate high quality information is obtained. Prepares and positions patient for procedure by using established Ultrasound protocols to achieve the highest quality image. Reviews, verifies and evaluates images to ensure excellent image quality. Trouble shoots and resolves ultrasound related PACS issues. Participates in performance improvement projects within the department. Floats within department as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. Job Duties are to be performed at a Practitioner Level. Floats to specialty unit (if qualified). Assists with mentoring of junior ultrasound technologists and students as needed. Assists other ultrasound technologists with difficult procedures that require advanced skills.

Depending on the experience and verified certifications of the selected candidate, this position will be hired at the Ultrasound Tech, Sr. Ultrasound Tech. or Principal Ultrasound Tech level.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program or equivalent years of experience.

  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) in AB or OB/GYN, must obtain within 5 months of hire. Must have (RDMS) in both AB and OB/GYN to be considered as a Sr. Ultrasound Tech.

  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.

  • Recent experience in a similar role and setting. A minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience is required at the Sr. Ultrasound Tech level and four (4) years experience is required at the Principal Ultrasound Tech level.

  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated computer skills.

  • Possess the skills, knowledge, and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Placement within the salary range is determined by licensed experience, internal equity, relevant qualifications, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable). Ultrasound Tech $50.97-$63.36, Sr Ultrasound Tech $59.54-$74.04, Principal Ultrasound Tech $65.49-$81.45
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, which may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, on-call, and some overtime, as needed.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $136,743 – $170,068 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $65.49 – $81.45

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
