JOB DESCRIPTION

We improve lives

The IDB Group is a community of diverse, versatile, and passionate people who come together on a journey to improve lives in Latin America and the Caribbean. Our people find purpose and do what they love in an inclusive, collaborative, agile, and rewarding environment.

About this position

The Research Department (RES) coordinates the Central Bank Adaptation to Climate Change initiative and the Network of Central Banks and Finance Ministries. Both operations engage directly with policymakers across Latin America and the Caribbean.

The climate initiative aims to build the capacity of central banks in eight LAC countries to address climate-related challenges by improving data sharing, fostering policy dialogue, strengthening research and knowledge dissemination, and supporting best practices in climate-related policymaking.

The Network, informally known as the Chief Economists’ Network, is a 30-year-old platform for high-level macroeconomic dialogue among central banks, finance ministries, global policymakers, and academics. Biannual meetings focus on global and regional economic developments and thematic policy discussions.

The consultant will act as assistant coordinator for both operations, working under the supervision of the respective team leaders. Approximately 75% of their time will be dedicated to the climate change initiative and 25% to the Chief Economist’s Network, supporting coordination, planning, research, and stakeholder engagement.

2. Network of Central Banks and Finance Ministries

Provide technical and logistical support for the April and October meetings, in close coordination with the Team Leader and RES event coordinator.

Support agenda design, outreach to participants, and preparation of invitations and communications.

Maintain and regularly update the network’s database and contact lists to ensure accurate records of members and invites.

Draft technical summaries and minutes following network meetings; compile evaluations and identify areas for improvement.
Propose and implement new initiatives that foster continued engagement between formal meetings, including regular updates and information-sharing among members.
Contribute to the preparation of the Network’s annual reports and other relevant outputs.
